In September I hosted my first Draw This in Your Style challenge featuring the Flower Girl. Oh it was such fun!<\/p>\n

What are Draw This in Your Style challenges anyway? An illustrator posts one of their own illustrations and tags other profiles running similar challenges. That original piece becomes the seed concept. Anyone who joins in can change the shape, colours, medium\u2026 practically anything.<\/p>\n

The best part is seeing the countless different interpretations of the starting concept. Everyone has a unique style. It\u2019s also wonderful that absolutely anyone can take part\u2014 fellow illustrators, hobby artists, people who rarely draw, children, retirees\u2014 literally anyone who fancies a playful prompt.<\/p>\n

These challenges really helped me develop my personal style. They\u2019re a kind of gentle practice space where you can freely explore and experiment without the pressure that something might be \u201cwrong\u201d.<\/p>\n

Lots of people joined in, but I have to admit my very favourite moments were seeing the drawings by children. Through their work I reconnect with art education\u2014 a part of myself I sometimes miss.<\/p>\n
