I’ve always wanted to take part in the Folktale Week challenge. Its concept has always appealed to me and folk tales have long been close to my heart. I feel my illustration style fits this kind of storytelling, so last year I finally joined in. The illustration below is my favourite.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The prompt was PATH. I chose to illustrate the Slovenian story Zvezdica Zaspanka (Twinkle Sleepyhead), written by Fran Mil\u010dinski \u2013 Je\u017eek in 1952. It was the first Slovenian radio play and was also staged as a puppet theatre production. Later it was published as a picture book. Twinkle Sleepyhead remains one of the most beloved children’s stories in Slovenia; it was one of my favourites when I was little and I still love reading it to my kids. I hope you enjoy my interpretation. I painted the moment when the Moon sends Twinkle Sleepyhead down to Earth.<\/p>\n
