In recent years I\u2019ve grown to love creating at a slower pace. Not always. Not every day. But when I do manage it, it feels really good.<\/p>\n\n

Honestly? Online everything looks dramatic, exclusive\u2014like something\u2019s happening to everyone non\u2011stop. Maybe I sometimes give that impression too. But if it were really<\/em> like that I\u2019d probably have had a seizure by now. And yes, I do love running at 300 RPM!<\/p>\n\n

That\u2019s why I value even more the days when I feel I\u2019m actually breathing. When I move slowly. When I can blend colours without pressure. Then I know that less really does mean more. You need both \u2014 the days when everything goes wrong and the ones when everything clicks. Only then do you know the difference. Mind\u2011blowing, right? \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n\n

A morning for slowness<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

My day starts early \u2014 somewhere between six and seven. My husband and I brew Turkish coffee with cardamom and cinnamon. It\u2019s not just caffeine; it\u2019s a ritual. First contact with myself. With the day.<\/p>\n\n

Then we head up a nearby hill\u2014or each to our own gym. Some movement before the work part begins.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

Breakfast (and everything else)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

I take breakfast seriously. Snacks, lunch, dinner too. But breakfast has a special place\u2014first favourite. After that comes the operational part of the day: emails, admin, packing, social posts, photographing products and materials. Somewhere in between I make another coffee. With cinnamon, of course.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

Time to create<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

After lunch my time arrives \u2014 painting time. That\u2019s when I switch off the phone. If it rings, I don\u2019t pick up. Even if it\u2019s the mother\u2011in\u2011law. Even if they\u2019re offering me a free cruise. I paint.<\/p>\n\n

That\u2019s my quiet: a space where nothing has to be productive. Just mine.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

Afternoon at the kitchen table<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

When the kids get back from school everything shifts up a gear. We sit together at the table. They do schoolwork. I paint. In between we shout\u2014they at each other, me at them. I tell them to stop poking one another. They ignore me. I paint.<\/p>\n\n

And yes, somewhere in there there was also a snack. Obviously.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

Evening, you know<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

We have dinner together. We squabble a bit more \u2014 still loving each other. They spread too much jam on the bread; I tell them not to wipe their hands on their trousers. Classic.<\/p>\n\n

Sometimes I go back to work if something needs packing. Other times I go for a walk with my husband. Nothing special. Super easy. Well… at least when it is.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

My reminder \u2013 maybe yours too<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

You don\u2019t need everything figured out before you start. One lap on foot. One good coffee. One break from the phone. Whatever gives you breathing space.<\/p>\n\n

You don\u2019t need a slow life all the time. Just now and then \u2014 to remember how it feels. So you can return to it when you\u2019re breathless again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
