Eight years of calendars, countless stories and one fragrant kitchen<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

When I began thinking about the 2026 calendar I wanted something that felt truly mine<\/em>.Something weaving together what genuinely delights me \u2013 drawing, colour and cooking<\/strong>.So between paper and brush the animals slowly snuck in. One after another, each with its own character, spices, flour and a dash of humour.<\/p>\n\n

They took shape in the scent of freshly baked bread and the sound of children\u2019s laughter from the kitchen.I wanted the illustrations soft and warm \u2013 like the memory of a family table where there is always something happening: a bit of mess, a bit of chatting, a lot of warmth.<\/p>\n\n

Each drawing reminded me that creating is not a goal but a space<\/strong> \u2013 the in\u2011between where most of the beautiful things happen.<\/p>\n\n

Eight years later \u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

I made the first calendar in 2019<\/strong>.This one now in progress is the eighth in a row<\/strong>.If anyone could peek inside my head while I work they\u2019d probably think I\u2019m a bit batty. In truth it\u2019s one of the most fun processes I know. Being a bit batty helps haha.Each year it\u2019s a small creative marathon \u2014 finding a theme that doesn\u2019t repeat<\/strong> yet still feels like me.Brainstorming for a new calendar is something between artistic meditation and a mild creative crisis.That\u2019s the charm \u2013 when out of the muddle something begins to breathe, with its own story and scent.<\/p>\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n

The calendar as a personal \u201cescape room\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

All my calendars are personal projects<\/strong>.No one commissions them, no one demands them. I simply have<\/em> to make them.It\u2019s my little escape room<\/em> \u2013 a space where I\u2019m completely free and also my own toughest judge.<\/p>\n\n

There are no clients here \u2013 just me, brushes, paper and discipline.I set deadlines and limits for myself and search for the balance between art and usefulness.It\u2019s not only work; it\u2019s a practice in patience, humour and persistence.<\/p>\n\n

And yes, the buyer only sees the finished piece.They might think: \u201cPretty calendar.\u201dMaybe even: \u201cHmm, a bit pricey.\u201dBut if you know the story \u2013 the thoughts, doubts and coffee in between \u2013 you see more than a product on a shelf; you see the slightly batty person needing to release excess energy into something.Look closely and you see someone trying to say something to herself<\/strong>.The world then accepts it or not \u2013 and that\u2019s perfectly fine.<\/p>\n\n

Beauty in the process<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Creating a project like this year after year is sometimes tiring, often unpredictable and always a little magical.There\u2019s nothing lovelier than working with beautiful things \u2013 being surrounded by imagination, colours and people who believe in what you do. And that you\u2019re not boring them yet. Well, honestly, probably boring some \u2013 haha.But the fact I can gently get on someone\u2019s nerves is a privilege I don\u2019t take for granted.<\/p>\n\n

So when you hold the new Zoki.art calendar<\/strong> this year, know you\u2019re not holding just a piece of paper but a small slice of a story<\/strong> \u2013 all 12 chapters, a pinch of madness and a whole lot of heart. \ud83d\udc9b<\/p>\n\n
