In June a new book came out – a collection of poems by Zvezdana Majhen, published by Studio Hieroglif (yes, the very same team that makes sure a fresh issue of Zmajček 🐉 appears every month).
When Urška contacted me, sent me Zvezdana’s poems and asked: “Are you in?” … I almost squealed! Of course I was IN. This is exactly my theme – lyrical, gentle, pretty, a little deep, with children, flowers, love, mothers… and everything that smells of pancakes. 🥞
Urška gave me completely free rein: “Do whatever inspires you.”
And that is such a privilege. No deadlines, no format constraints, no rule of “how many colours is enough”. Just me, paper and the poems.
Illustrations born straight from the heart
And something magical happened. The illustrations appeared almost effortlessly, as if they had always been inside me just waiting to come out. This is a project for the soul. I often say I work on projects “for the soul”… but this time it truly felt weightless, as if I were drawing in zero gravity. This is home.
The collection Moji mamici was created out of love and for love. So I invite you to take it in your hands and read it – not linearly, but as it comes. A little in the morning with coffee, a stanza when you are low, or just because you can. Poetry is like that – it arrives as inspiration exactly when you need it.
The loveliest gift for mums (and everyone we love)

To me it feels like the perfect token for all our mums, aunts, friends, sisters – and also for ourselves. A book is always the loveliest gift. No special occasion needed – give it just like that, to say out loud: “Thank you, dear mum.” 🌸
PS: A hint for the men 👀 – this is a superb gift for your wife. It will bring her (the good) tears. And if you add a flower… mate, you’ve won. 😏💐
