PRISLUHNI GOZDU (Listen to the Forest)

I’m delighted another beautiful picture book has gone out into the world: sensitive, gentle, vivid and interactive. I’m equally glad Daniela invited me to co-create her vision. A wonderful project in every respect—thoughtfully, precisely structured yet so organic and natural in look and substance.

A brief summary of Daniela Gaser’s words about the picture book Listen to the Forest:

‘Interactive picture book designed to preserve and strengthen mindfulness in children. It invites awareness of inner experience and the outer unfolding world. Four seasonal stories may be read as an interconnected whole or individually, each carrying its own message. It helps children recognise, name, accept, express and regulate emotions—each story offers ways to soothe a particular feeling. The stories also include breathing exercises and recorded meditations located in their specific season.’

I created traditionally painted illustrations for Listen to the Forest. Blending those soft tonal shifts of each season and catching the emotional sensations they carry was a joy.

And dear Darja breathed tangible life into it all, masterfully weaving word and image in her sensitive, refined way. Thank you.
