Motifs I paint
I greatly enjoy dreamy, gentle motifs, which is why I can hardly resist celestial bodies. The moon and stars are frequent companions in my illustrations— as is water. The other day I was looking through my work and realised I repeat these motifs all the time, completely subconsciously. As though they simply have to be in my illustrations, full stop. I also noticed that the moon and stars seem to reflect in places that at first glance don’t resemble that pulsating mass of darkness above us at all. There’s always something quietly mysterious and attractive in these scenes— a little light and a little dark.
