The other day I showed you this gorgeous music notebook, and because some of you asked where this cheerful wonder can be found, here’s a quick introduction.

“Zakaj imajo medvedki radi flavto” (Why Little Bears Love the Flute) is a music notebook with 12 pieces for flute and piano accompaniment. The pieces for the youngest learners were written by flute teacher Nada Krajnčan Šušteršič from the Kočevje music school. They’re intended for children in the first three primary school years.

Mrs Nada’s idea was to enliven that dry white background of black lines and dots and bring the content closer to children visually— before they dive into reading it.
I contributed six illustrations to the notebook; for the other six pieces the children illustrate the music themselves. That makes the content interactive. I think it’s a truly lovely, well-rounded idea and I’m glad I had a hand in it. As I said last time— anything to do with music or poetry… and I’m sold. 😛
If you’re curious (and pestering your child about music school :P) you can order the notebook at flute@funland.si.
