I also met Marilyne through Instagram. An intriguing social network. Even though it can get on my nerves, it has introduced me to so many interesting people and business partners who became friends – we still happily exchange words long after the collaboration itself is over.
Marilyne lives in Texas, though she originally comes from Kenya, and she adores elephants. She has even adopted two of them there. She first started a blog about elephants and their lives, especially raising awareness about the problem of poaching. That eventually led her to open a shop on her website offering all sorts of elephant‑themed items. With every sale a portion goes towards conservation of the species.
Marilyne reached out because she wished for an elephant illustration in my style. For her products I painted a tender scene between a mother and calf surrounded by flowers. The motif now appears on all sorts of items – notebooks, mugs, bottles and more. I’m happy I could contribute to her mission.
