With some people you feel you already know them — though you’ve never met. Anita wrote to me in 2020 after finding my portfolio on Instagram; she had an idea for a children’s mindfulness “Workbook”.

Anita wrote many deeply personal poems, keeping them in a small booklet until they had “ripened”. Then she decided to shape them into an interactive format, not purely emotive. Each poem is rich with feeling and invites conversation. Her idea was to use the verses to talk with children about emotions — helping them make sense of situations and sensations. The book places reflective questions and tasks beside the poems: space to think, even to jot notes.

Illustrating poetry is very close to me; I feel my images carry a quiet lyricism. Anita’s project suited me perfectly and fed my pedagogical side: distilling task instructions without over‑complicating while preserving layered imagery. Together we’ve made something that can inspire, comfort, delight — and truly help.
